Airman 1st Class John L. Levitow Medal of Honor, 1969 John Levitow, a loadmaster on an AC-47, acted quickly to save his aircraft after it was hit by enemy fire. Wounded, he threw himself upon a magnesium flare and tossed it out of the aircraft moments before it ignited. He is the lowest ranking airmen to receive our nation's highest recognition for bravery.
