Maj. Gen. Benjamin D. Foulois

These were the blouse and Sam Browne belt of Maj. Gen. Benjamin D. Foulois who took the 1909 Wright Flyer, Military Aeroplane No. 1, to Fort Sam Houston, Texas, in 1910 and taught himself to fly. He was Chief of the Air Corps when he retired 25 years later while the first B-17 Flying Fortress was being built.

These uniform items were transferred from West Point Museum.
