5/30/2012 - DAYTON, Ohio -- 88th Air Base Wing Vice Commander Col. Daniel Semsel presented Englewood resident Tom Gardner with the Team Wright-Patt "Volunteer of the Quarter" award for the first quarter of 2012 on May 24.

Gardner began volunteering at the museum in 2002 and has accumulated more than 3,300 hours of service. He currently assists as a gallery monitor in the Korean War and Cold War Galleries, educating visitors about aviation history. He often accepts weekend assignments, serving as a valuable asset to the weekend duty staff at a time when the museum welcomes its greatest number of visitors. He was nominated for the "Volunteer of the Quarter" award for providing surveillance, safety and service information to museum visitors at each of those locations.

More than 500 people volunteer at the museum in nearly every division and activity. For more information about volunteering, please visit www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/volunteer/.

The National Museum of the United States Air Force is located on Springfield Street, six miles northeast of downtown Dayton. It is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day). Admission and parking are free.
