Experience Air Force missions through Command Center Alpha on June 28

6/19/2012 - DAYTON, Ohio -- Visitors can immerse themselves in military missions during a free virtual reality experience from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on June 28 at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force.
The Command Center Alpha display lets people explore the U.S. Air Force through 3D computer graphics, videos, audio and digital downloads. Along the way, they discover the Air Force's role in today's military as well as the many career opportunities available to new recruits. Twenty missions are highlighted in the display, including search and rescue, launching a rocket, maneuvering a remotely piloted aircraft, and tracking objects orbiting the earth.
Visitors also are able to download unique content, such as wallpapers, videos and ringtones to their cell phones or email addresses.
Those interested in the experience on June 28 can enter through the museum's main gate off Springfield Street and follow the signs to the museum's back field (signs will be marked for the Tattoo).
Command Center Alpha also will be available during Wright-Patterson Air Force Base's Freedom's Call Military Tattoo on June 29. For more information about the Tattoo, visit http://www.wpafb.af.mil/tattoo.
The National Museum of the United States Air Force is located on Springfield Street, six miles northeast of downtown Dayton. It is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day). Admission and parking are free.
