The National Museum of the United States Air Force (NMUSAF) Exchange Program’s function is to enhance the USAF National Historical Collection through the authorized acquisition of items and services. It is a valuable tool for NMUSAF to carry out its mission to tell the Air Force story through curatorial stewardship and educational outreach efforts.
NMUSAF posts notices of items available for exchange at this site. Notices are posted for 45 days.
The items posted at this site may be dispositioned by exchange under the authority of Title 10 of the US Code, Section 2572, which allows the NMUSAF to offer items not needed by the museum for items or services that will benefit the USAF National Historical Collection.
NMUSAF accomplishes exchanges through a documented proposal and agreement process and does not provide items by direct sale. The museum utilizes exchanges to obtain: rare aircraft, engines, other artifacts; or restoration, transportation, conservation, or educational items or services.
Notices of proposed items for exchange include the name of the item(s), a brief description with images, and proposal information materials, to include contact information.
