Fourth Building Grand Opening Celebration

On June 11-12, the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force will come alive with special activities to celebrate the grand opening of the fourth building, which will feature 10 presidential aircraft and a world-class collection of flight test aircraft, along with the Space Shuttle Exhibit and huge cargo planes. Entertaining and educational activities are being planned from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday, June 11 and Sunday, June 12. Throughout the weekend, the museum and a number of participating organizations will offer FREE hands-on activities for all ages, including educational demonstrations, special costumed characters, the Air Force’s customized Vapor Special Ops Supercar, plus a number of displays from the Air Force and other groups.

Please note Springfield Street, the road that leads to the museum’s entrance, is undergoing construction through the beginning of September. Expect lane reductions and some delays. Please follow the signs and instructions provided by the road crews.

Free Activities

Note: The following activities will be offered free-of-charge. Information will continue to be updated as the event nears.

All-day activities on June 11-12

- Shows include Rescue 3D (10:30 a.m., 2 p.m., 4 p.m.), Journey to Space 3D (11 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m.), Aircraft Carrier 3D (11:30 a.m., 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m.) and Fighter Pilot 3D (noon, 1:30 p.m., 3 p.m., 5 p.m.)
