celebrating aviation: Eagle squadron recognition - March 9

Join us as the Royal Air Force presents the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force with a plaque commemorating the Eagle Squadron for their support during the Battle of Britain. James Normington, a former Royal Air Force Officer, and Dr. Douglas Lantry, Curator and Historian with the Museum, will share the history of the Eagle Squadron. The evening will conclude with a presentation of the plaque honoring the Eagle Squadron by a representative of the British Embassy to AFMF Commander, Lieutenant General Hurry, and formal dedication of the plaque. 

The presentation will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Air Force Museum Theatre, with seating beginning at 6 p.m. You are welcome to arrive at 5:30 p.m. to visit the exhibits regarding the Eagle Squadron and the WWII Gallery in the first building.

Fitness Under the Wings

Grab your water bottle join us each month on Saturday mornings for an invigorating series of wellness sessions held right beneath the Museum's iconic historic aircraft. These community-friendly events are designed to cater to participants of all fitness levels and are the perfect way to kick-start your weekend.

Each session will be led by experienced local instructors in a range of wellness activities, from yoga and Zumba to stretching, mobility exercises, and mindful movement. These events will foster a sense of connection, well-being, and mindfulness in a unique and inspiring setting. 

Choose what works best for you! Along with the guided class, participants are welcome to enjoy a self-guided walking session during the event time — both options use the same registration link.

Calling All Instructors: Lead the Way in Wellness! We’re inviting local fitness instructors to be part of this exciting new initiative! If you're passionate about wellness and enjoy leading inclusive, fun sessions, we’d love for you to be a part of Fitness Under the Wings. Whether your expertise lies in yoga, Zumba, stretching, or any other movement-based wellness activity, we want to hear from you! Registration info here!

 

ASBP Blood Drive

Friday, March 20 and Saturday, March 21 from 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. under the wings of the B-52 in the second building. Walk-ins are welcome or pre-register - link coming soon. 

ASBP will provide t-shirts and snacks following your donation. 

All blood types are accepted and there is currently a significant need for type O blood. Additionally, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), has updated guidance for the Variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (vCJD) or “Mad Cow” disease deferral. Contact the Armed Services Blood Program for more information. 

This monthly program will also be onsite April 3 & 17, May 1, June 12, 17 & 26, July 18 & 24, Aug 7, Oct 24 and Nov 24 & 25.

Honor Vietnam Veterans Day at Plane Talks March 28, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Join us in the Southeast Asia Gallery (Building 4) as subject matter experts share insights and stories connected to Vietnam and Air Force history.

Plane Talks is an engaging program that invites visitors to connect with veterans, active-duty personnel, and other experts stationed throughout the Museum’s galleries. These subject matter experts—ranging from pilots and crew members to engineers and navigators—share their personal experiences and insights, bringing the history of Air Force aircraft and exhibits to life.
