Air Force Museum beginnings
In 1922 the Army announced plans for a future museum dedicated to aviation research and development a McCook field after amassing a collection of WWI aircraft, engines and instruments from European countries. The following year, McCook Field’s 26,000-square-foot Air Service Technical Museum announced its public visitation opening on May 16th.
