The museum conservators have taken steps throughout the entire National Museum of the U.S. Air Force to ensure the preservation of the artifacts on display through light conservation. Many exhibits have been dimmed or turned off to help preserve the artifacts. Steps have been taken to mitigate light damage including the use of the ‘blue wool’ standard in cases. These blue wool test strips contain specific light sensitive dyes that are indicators of light damage that can be read and visually compared to an unexposed blue wool test strip for conservation purposes.
