Operation Candy Drop
Airman 1st Class Ryan Williams, Operation Candy Drop volunteer, shows a group of children how to make a parachute that carries candy. Organizers of Operation Candy Drop, a drive to collect and deliver Halloween candy to Iraqi children, were inspired by the actions of 'The Candy Bomber,' Col. Gail Halvorsen, (retired), a Berlin Airlift pilot who delivered candy to children via parachute at the end of World War II. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Matthew McGovern)
