Flying the U-2
Pilots of early U-2s wore partial pressure suits like this MC-3 suit (worn underneath a standard flying coverall). The aircraft’s cockpit was too small to allow a bulkier but more comfortable full pressure suit. Early U-2s also did not have ejection seats in order to save weight. (U.S. Air Force photo)
