K-2B Flying Suit

DAYTON, Ohio - A K-2B flying suit worn by Maj. Mark Berent (later Lt. Col.) a flight commander for the 497th Tactical Fighter Squadron “Night Owls” who attacked enemy trucks and guns along the Ho Chi Minh Trail at night. FACs marked the targets and controlled the attacks by the Night Owls’ F-4 and other attack aircraft. Berent later commanded the Wolf Fast FACs of the 497th Tactical Fighter Squadron 8th Tactical Fighter Wing at Ubon Royal Thai AB. Notice that the bright major oak leaves have been subdued. This K-2B flying suit is on display in the Southeast Asia War Gallery at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. (U.S. Air Force photo)
