17th Aero Squadron Insigne

This squadron was originally designated Company A at Kelly Field, Texas, on May 13, 1917, then re-designated the 29th Provisional Aero Squadron, then as Company M, then Company B, and then finally as the 17th Aero Squadron on July 30, 1917. Detachments of the 17th Aero Squadron served with the Royal Air Force in France in February 1918. This squadron had six World War I aces. The insignia of the 17th Aero Squadron is the great snow owl.
