Eddie V. Rickenbacker WWI Diary
Capt. Edward V. Rickenbacker's 1918 wartime diary entry. (03/05/1918). Weather bad this morning. However after much trouble, most of the boys were located and we left in the truck for Villacoublay. Several of the boys’ motors were started and one by the name of James left, but the ceiling was very low, say 300 meters, and soon he was lost. Naturally we are all wishing for his safety. Now, having returned to Paris and checked in for the fifth time, twice at the same hotel after each time a new one and always more tips. Ha. Ha.
