Eddie V. Rickenbacker WWI Diary
Capt. Edward V. Rickenbacker's 1918 wartime diary entry. (03/27/1918). Five of the boys are going to Paris with our Commander. I have been made commanding officer during his absence. All the boys were examined by Major Lufbery this afternoon and tomorrow I get the opportunity I have worked so hard for during the past 9 months, that is going over the German lines with Major Lufbery and another boy Douglas Campbell. All chase squadrons have left from our camp going south, as the Germans have started an advance just north of us so we may be retreating soon.
