Eddie V. Rickenbacker WWI Diary
Capt. Edward V. Rickenbacker's 1918 wartime diary entry. (05/28/1918). Missed out on patrol today so went up with Lt. Campbell. After being on the lines for some time we met six enemy planes. The fight lasted for 15 minutes, the best I ever had and plenty of antiaircraft firing. Attended Lt. John Mitchell’s funeral this afternoon. He was killed while making a landing. He was Col. Mitchell’s brother.
