WWII Replacement Decorations Awarded
DAYTON, Ohio -- WWII Veteran Lt. Joseph Kollenberg poses for a photo at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force on July 24, 2019. Maj. Gen. Carl Schaefer, Air Force Materiel Command Deputy Commander presented replacement decorations to include the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, and the European, African, Middle Eastern Service Medal to Kollenberg. His awards and their citations have been lost over the years. From 25 Aug 1944 through 21 Apr 1945, Lt. Kollenberg completed 27 combat missions as a B-24 navigator.
