WASP Exhibit
Replica Congressional Gold Medal on display in the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) exhibit at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. The Congressional Gold Medal is the highest award Congress can award to a civilian or group of civilians and this was presented by President President Barack Obama in March of 2010. Members of WASP became trained pilots who tested aircraft, ferried aircraft and trained other pilots. Their purpose was to free male pilots for combat roles during WWII.
