Wright-Patterson Air Force Base -- The National Museum of the U.S. Air Force will be closed to the public for the entire day Wednesday, Sept. 9, while Museum personnel participate in an emergency response exercise. The Museum will reopen Thursday, Sept. 10, at 9 a.m.
The closure will also include all on-site operations of the Air Force Museum Foundation, including the Museum Store, Museum Attractions and Events, as well as the National Aviation Hall of Fame.
Those traveling near the Museum may notice emergency vehicles and an increased presence of security and emergency response personnel. Motorists may also experience temporary traffic delays and should plan accordingly.
National Museum of the U.S. Air Force Director David Tillotson said the exercise is an important part of maintaining a safe and secure environment for Museum visitors and employees.
“Emergency response exercises provide valuable opportunities for our personnel and area response agencies to practice procedures and strengthen coordination,” Tillotson said. “We recognize that the closure may inconvenience some visitors, but this training helps ensure we are prepared to respond effectively should an emergency occur.”
The Museum, Air Force Museum Foundation operations and National Aviation Hall of Fame will resume regular operating hours Thursday, Sept. 10.
