Open Aircraft Days

A-10A Thunderbolt KK located in Southeast Asia Gallery

On these days, visitors will have the unique opportunity to look inside one of the museum’s aircraft from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

Plane Talks

Picture of veteran standing in front of a B-25Plane Talks will occur a few times a year and allow visitors the opportunity to interact with various subject matter experts. The experts at these talks may include veterans, active duty, former pilots, crew members, engineers, navigators, and more. These experts will be stationed in the galleries near the aircraft or exhibit that relates to their expertise. These Plane Talks programs often occur in conjunction with the anniversary of a significant Air Force or military event.

New Exhibit Opening Feb. 5

"A Force for Good: Department of the Air Force Humanitarian Missions" 
The museum will debut its latest permanent exhibit, demonstrating the history and role the Air Force plays in humanitarian operations to assist people domestically and around the world including: aerial deliveries, goodwill missions, relief and rescue, firefighting, and critical care responses. A number of artifacts will be on display to include diving equipment used during the Thai Cave Rescue, and firefighting tools used to combat wildfires in Alaska, as well as see a fully-assembled Transport Isolation System.

Micro Drone Races, Feb. 26-27

Throughout the days, visitors become race spectators! Cheer on your favorite Micro Drone while watching timed races throughout the museum's Korean War Gallery.  Visitors will also have the opportunity to experience flying a drone with computer-based simulators provided by the museum’s Education Division and then fly an actual drone in a designated area courtesy of AFRL and the museum’s Education Division.

Traveling WWII Memorial, June 5-6

Picture of traveling WWII MemorialKick off the 75th Anniversary of the U.S. Air Force with a weekend of activities featuring the Traveling WWII Memorial consisting of the Wall of Stars, the Atlantic and Pacific Pavilions, 56 Pillars, and stands with oak and wheat wreaths.  Granite slabs also highlight quotes from President Roosevelt and General MacArthur.  The Wall of Stars reads “Here Marks the Price of Freedom." This traveling display is owned by Freedom’s Never Free. Additional family-friendly activities include Reenactor Encampment, Fly-Overs and indoor events. 

Traveling Korean War Memorial "The Forgotten War", June 25-26

Remember the 72nd anniversary of the start of the Korean War and honor those who served by visiting this replica exhibit of Washington DC’s Korean War memorial. Hear the living history from museum volunteers sharing the vital role that many of the museum’s aircraft played in this war, and visit the Air Force Museum Foundation Theatre to see Korean War related movies.

SALUTE: A Vietnam Veterans Tribute, Aug. 18-21

  • Join us at the museum as we welcome the American Veterans Traveling Tribute (AVTT) Traveling Wall.  This 80% Replica of the Vietnam Wall bares the names of more than 58,000 service members killed in Vietnam. As a backdrop for this memorial, the museum will host aerial events, a flyover and more.


World War I Dawn Patrol Rendezvous, Oct. 7-8

Sights, sounds and activities for the whole family will take place throughout the museum complex as we look back to WWI and America’s early air superiority.

After Dark 21+ Events
