DAYTON, Ohio - Lt. Col. Robert Krone's boonie hat. Attached to the hat is a Royal Thai Air Force pilot’s badge. Also displayed is his unusual trophy for completing a 100-mission tour. It reads “First Commander with 100 Missions.” He flew a total of 125 combat missions in Southeast Asia. (U.S. Air Force photo)

Commander of the 469th TFS, 388th TFW, Lt. Col. Krone's first "counter" was on Nov. 15, 1965. On June 3, 1966, he became the first squadron commander to complete a 100-mission tour.
