1966 Bell GUH-1F (S/N 65-7922 / C/N 7063) Helicopter Project, owned by the National Museum of the United States Air Force (NMUSAF) and determined excess to collection needs. Helicopter has a General Electric T-58-GE-3 engine and is not airworthy or suitable for flight purposes. Data plate is present and legacy maintenance records are available for the aircraft and engine.
The UH-1F was an upgraded version of the UH-1B with the T58 engine installed. The resulting aircraft had the shorter cabin of the UH-1B, but with the longer tail boom, rotor and transmission of the UH-1D. The UH-1F was introduced into the USAF inventory in February 1964 with production ending in 1967. Many of the aircraft served in Southeast Asia, and some were converted to the armed UH-1P configuration. The last UH-1F was retired from the USAF in the early 1980s.
The United States Air Force accepted this aircraft in February 1966 and assigned it to support and rescue duties at Francis E. Warren Air Force Base in Wyoming. In 1984 the Air Force transferred the aircraft to Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas and redesignated it a GUH-1F ground instructional airframe for technical training. It arrived at the museum in 2003.
