Enlisted Guardians

On December 20, 2019, congressional legislation established the United States Space Force as a new service within the Department of the Air Force. Shortly after, the service began recruiting space and cyberspace personnel and named its members Guardians.

Selected from top performers in their fields, enlisted Guardians are information technology experts, cybersecurity specialists, communication systems professionals, and leaders in space systems operations. Their wide-ranging duties include maintaining computer networks, designing software, preventing cyberattacks, monitoring missile warning systems, and launching satellites.

Above all, enlisted Guardians are computer experts. Their talent with digital technology helps safeguard assets essential to national security as space and cyberspace warfare continue to grow as threats.
