1928 Dress Uniform This dress uniform was tailored for Maj. Ennis C. Whitehead in 1928. Grade insignia were changed as he received promotions to his final rank of lieutenant general. His military career extended from 1917 until his retirement in 1951. He participated in the historic Pan-American Goodwill Flight of 1926-1927 and in World War II he was commander of the 5th Air Force. After the war, he commanded the Far East Air Forces and later the Air Defense Command. These uniform items were donated by Mrs. Ennis C. Whitehead, Newton, Kan.
