The British Rolls Royce Hawk engine was used in the British-Built SS "Zero" (Submarine Scout, Zero) airship of which 76 were built. Two of these World War I airships -- SSZ23 and SSZ24 -- were used by American forces flying out of Howden, England, for operations against German U-boats.
