870th Bombardment Squadron Fabric

The painted fabric insignia represents the 870th Bombardment Squadron, which was part of the 20th Air Force, XX Bomber Command, 73rd Bomb Wing, 497th Bomb Group. The unit flew B-17s and later B-29s and saw combat in the Western Pacific from Nov. 1, 1944, through Aug. 14, 1945. The unit was disbanded on March 31, 1946. The item belonged to 1st Lt. Robert Harris.
