Joseph Sutter presents retired Maj. Thomas Griffin and retired Lt. Col. Richard Cole the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Air Force anniversary dinner Sept. 16, 2009, at the Gaylord National Hotel and Convention Center in National Harbor, Md. Major Griffin and Colonel Cole are members of the Doolittle Raiders. Mr. Sutter is the Air Force Association chairman of the board. The Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by the Air Force Association, recognizes not a single achievement, but a lifetime of work in the advancement of aerospace. In September 2009, the AFA presented this award to the Doolittle Tokyo Raiders.
