Iconic Starfighters: Rivals of the Silver Screen

Iconic Starfighters: Rivals of the Silver ScreenExplore Iconic Starfighters: Rivals of the Silver Screen, a limited-time special exhibit featuring two full-scale, fan-created spacecraft inspired by some of the most recognizable designs from the silver screen. Brought to the Museum by the Air Force Museum Foundation, these detailed recreations highlight the connection between real-world aviation and the imaginative spacecraft designs seen in film.

On display through Dec. 31, 2026, in the Fourth Building Special Exhibit Space. Additionally, plans call for members of the Ohio Garrison - 501st Legion to be on hand at the exhibit in full Star Wars character costumes the first Saturday of the month through the end of the year (except Nov.) from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Iconic Starfighters features fan-created recreations inspired by the Star Wars franchise. This exhibit is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Disney Enterprises Inc., Lucasfilm Ltd. LLC, Lucas Licensing Ltd., Lucas Entertainment Company Ltd. LLC, or any of their affiliates. Federal endorsement of named private entities is not implied.

Honor Armed Forces Day at Plane Talks Sept. 18, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Join us as subject matter experts share insights and personal stories connected to Air Force history.

Plane Talks is an engaging program that invites visitors to connect with veterans, active-duty personnel, and other experts stationed throughout the Museum’s galleries. These subject matter experts—ranging from pilots and crew members to engineers and navigators—share their personal experiences and insights, bringing the history of Air Force aircraft and exhibits to life.

ASBP Blood Drive

Saturday, October 24 from 10 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. under the wings of the B-52 in the second building. Walk-ins are welcome or pre-register, link coming soon.

ASBP will provide t-shirts and snacks following your donation. 

All blood types are accepted and there is currently a significant need for type O blood. Additionally, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), has updated guidance for the Variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (vCJD) or “Mad Cow” disease deferral. Contact the Armed Services Blood Program for more information. 

This monthly program will also be onsite Nov 24 & 25.

Fitness Under the Wings

Grab your water bottle join us each month on Saturday mornings for an invigorating series of wellness sessions held right beneath the Museum's iconic historic aircraft. These community-friendly events are designed to cater to participants of all fitness levels and are the perfect way to kick-start your weekend.

Each session will be led by experienced local instructors in a range of wellness activities, from yoga and Zumba to stretching, mobility exercises, and mindful movement. These events will foster a sense of connection, well-being, and mindfulness in a unique and inspiring setting. 

Choose what works best for you! Along with the guided class, participants are welcome to enjoy a self-guided walking session during the event time — both options use the same registration link.

Calling All Instructors: Lead the Way in Wellness! We’re inviting local fitness instructors to be part of this exciting new initiative! If you're passionate about wellness and enjoy leading inclusive, fun sessions, we’d love for you to be a part of Fitness Under the Wings. Rocket Day 2026

Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026 | 10 a.m.–3 p.m.

Join us for Rocket Day, a free family-friendly event celebrating science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Kids of all ages can build and launch their own model rocket and enjoy hands-on activities, interactive demonstrations, and opportunities to explore the exciting world of aerospace and rocketry.

Girls in Aviation and STEM Day - Sept. 27

Sept. 27, 2026 | 10 AM - 3 PM |  FREE event
Join the National Aviation Hall of Fame for an exciting, free event designed to inspire curiosity and confidence in young girls ages 6–17. Explore careers in aviation and STEM through hands-on activities, meeting female role models in aviation, and learning about exciting career possibilities in aerospace. 

Be inspired by a special keynote from Joan Sullivan Garrett, founder of MedAire, sharing how her groundbreaking mission delivers lifesaving medical care in the air.

After Dark: Bombers and Brews - Nov. 7

The Air Force Museum Foundation will host its adults-only After Dark: Bombers & Brews event Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026, at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force.

Guests can explore select aircraft, view artifacts from the Museum’s collection and Wright State University archives, and enjoy live music, trivia, a caricature artist, heavy hors d’oeuvres and beverages available from participating breweries and cash bars.

The event is open to guests ages 21 and older. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the event runs from 6–10 p.m. Full information and tickets can be found at the Foundation's website.
