Each year, the museum hosts hundreds of events that help convey the Air Force story and military aviation spirit. Indoor and outdoor events range from flying events, exhibit openings and aircraft rollouts to ceremonies, reunion groups, memorial dedications and guest lectures.

Open Late - First Thursday of each month
The museum, gift shop and simulators will remain open until 8 p.m. the first Thursday of each month.

Plane Talks will occur a few times a year and allow visitors the opportunity to interact with various subject matter experts. The experts at these talks may include veterans, active duty, former pilots, crew members, engineers, navigators, and more. These experts will be stationed in the galleries near the aircraft or exhibit that relates to their expertise. These Plane Talks programs often occur on the anniversary of a significant Air Force or military event.

The National Museum of the U.S. Air Force teams up with the USAF Band of Flight and other performers for concerts throughout the year.

Concerts are free and open to the public, and at times, tickets are required. Most concerts begin at 7:30 p.m., unless otherwise noted. Doors open for indoor concerts at 6:30 p.m., and seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Performances last approximately 70-90 minutes and may include an intermission.



The Air Force Band of Flight Holiday Concerts scheduled for December 12 and 13, 2020 have been cancelled. However, the Holiday Concert will be recorded and streamed online for all to enjoy. Please continue to check our website and social media channels for information about when and how you can view this concert.

2021 EVENTS

January 28 – May 2, 2021

“SPACE: A Journey to Our Future” is a highly interactive exhibition that ignites the desire for space exploration and discovery, sparking imaginations, and inspiring new generations of explorers to dream of the possibilities that lie ahead. Highlights include touching actual rocks from the lunar surface and the red planet, exploring a Mars Base Camp while walking through a full-size habitat and work pod, taking a spin on a centrifuge, and looking far into the future of our exploration of the universe.

February 20, 2021

See fast flying micro machines, in this rapid growing sport, as drone pilots fly around obstacles and aircraft along their racecourse through the galleries. See how the pilots prepare their drones for a race. Spectators can watch the race along the course or watch on a big screen showing video from cameras mounted to the drones. Try your hand at flying a drone and participate in allow activities available for the whole family.

“The Beauty of Space” exhibit will feature awe-inspiring pieces of varying mediums created by artists from the International Association of Astronomical Artists (IAAA). While we do not yet know all the stories held by the stars, “The Beauty of Space” spurs us to unleash our curiosity and keep moving forward on this grand human adventure. The International Association of Astronomical Artists (IAAA), is a nonprofit organization whose members implement and participate in astronomical and space art projects, promote education about space art and foster international cooperation in artistic work inspired by the exploration of the Universe.

March 6, 2021

The National Museum of the U.S. Air Force is honoring women with a new exhibit titled “Women in the Air Force: From Yesterday into Tomorrow,” which highlights achievements in their civilian and military careers with an emphasis on the U.S. Air Force and its predecessors. The exhibit will be completed in early 2021 and covers historical issues; changes in laws and attitudes; and women's contributions to the Air Force mission. A Special Event is in the works for March 6, 2021 to coincide with the completion of the Women in the Air Force Exhibit and Women’s History Month.

The Traveling WWII Memorial consists of the Wall of Stars, the Atlantic and Pacific Pavilions, 56 Pillars, and stands with oak and wheat wreaths.  Granite slabs also highlight quotes from President Roosevelt and General MacArthur.  The Wall of Stars reads “Here Marks the Price of Freedom." This traveling display is owned by Freedom’s Never Free.

This event will include living history reenactors, vehicles of the era, live music from the 1960s and the American Veterans Traveling Tribute (AVTT) 80% scale Vietnam Wall replica.

 

History:
The Southeast Asia War (Vietnam War) included Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia occurred between 1961-1973.

The museum is planning an evening event exclusively for adults ages 21+ with food, fun and drinks! Tickets will be required.

The museum is preparing to host a replica of the Korean War Memorial for public display on the museum’s front lawn. This traveling display is owned by Freedom’s Never Free.

Due to current world affairs the WWI Dawn Patrol Rendezvous has been postponed to occur in Fall 2021. This will allow time to work the requirements for this event and ensure it is safe for our out-of-state participants to travel.
