The museum offers two special Home School Days every year -- once in the spring and once in the fall. Programming changes each year, with the fall program being a repeat of the previous spring program.
The next Home School Days are April 12, 2010 and Sept. 27, 2010. The Fall Home School Day programming will be a repeat of this spring's program. Please see links below for more information.
Note: Click here to read a sample description of classes for more information. These are not necessarily the classes that will be offered in the spring, but are included to give you an idea of the types of classes available. The topics and schedule will be announced no later than March 1, 2010, and registration will open in mid-March.
Features:
- Fun-filled educational day with something for everyone ages 3-18
- Activities begin at 9 a.m.
- Most activities are free
- Space is limited
Information:
Join the museum for a special day filled with a variety of educational experiences for all grade levels from preschool through high school. Activities begin at 9 a.m. and continue throughout the day. Come for a full day or just one activity. The museum opens at 9 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m.
Only one child can be registered per form. Registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Please note that the museum is a very large place. It is your responsibility to have enough adults with you to ensure that your children will be able to get to their individual class areas on time, as well as be picked up at the end of class. Also, some classes require that an adult attend with the student. These classes are indicated on the Program Description pages.
If you wish to pack your lunch, a picnic area is available outside the museum. Food, snacks and drinks (including water) may not be brought into the building. A cafe is available on the second floor if you prefer to purchase your food here. Be advised that the outside picnic area is a considerable walking distance away from the activities. Be sure to adjust your timing accordingly.
To add to your museum experience, you may also wish to watch an IMAX movie or ride the Morphis flight simulator. The Air Force Museum Foundation usually offers these activities at a reduced rate on Home School Day.
If you wish to visit the Presidential Gallery, please read the visiting instructions.
