Kite Tales
Located in the Early Years Gallery. During this pre-school storytime program, children will explore the world of kites and will then make their own paper kite!

Robots Among Us
Located in the World War II Gallery. Children will learn about robots -- at work and at play! Includes a "robot" craft activity.

Modular Robotics
Located in the Missile & Space Gallery. Children will learn how robots work with snap-together modular robots that move, respond to light and more! Presented by the Wright-Patterson AFB "Wizards of Wright" program.

Into the Air
Located in the Cold War Gallery. Through a literature-based lesson, students will learn about the development of and various aspects of flight. They will then build and fly a glider.

Lasers and Optics
Located in the Cold War Gallery. Students will perform a series of investigations of light and color. By observing phenomena that is normally hidden from view, the presenter will explain what the students see in simple, straightforward terms. Presented by an engineer from the Wright-Patterson AFB "Wizards of Wright" program.

Air Drop Rodeo
Located in the center of the second building. Students will learn about the worldwide humanitarian efforts of the US Air Force. They will then form air drop teams to plan an air drop mission using basic math skills and hands-on training aids. The air drop teams will compete in an actual air drop mission using a large C-130 aircraft model.
Time: 10:30-noon and 1:30-3 p.m.
Ages: 9-12 (4th to 7th grades)

Around the Clock - Around the World
Located in Carney Auditorium. Learn how the world has become "smaller" with the development of aerial refueling! The presenter will explain the past, present and future of this incredible innovation and the technology behind it.

The Holocaust: Prejudice and Memory
Located in Carney Auditorium. Participants will hear the memories of local people who personally experienced some aspect of the Holocaust. This program stresses the importance of tolerance. Tour guides will be in the Holocaust exhibit to answer questions from 1:30-3:30 p.m.

Cryptology
Located in the Korean War Gallery. Students will learn about the history of code making and breaking from ancient Egypt to the present day as well as uses for codes. After obtaining content, students will work together to create and break codes.

Optical Spectra and Color
Located in the Learning Center on the second floor. Students will construct a simple spectrometer and use it to examine various light sources. Concepts will include the nature of light, the electromagnetic spectrum, the interaction of light with matter, and the use of spectrometers to study both light and matter. Presented by a scientist from the Wright-Patterson AFB "Wizards of Wright" program. Familiarity with basic optics concepts like reflection, refraction, and the rainbow is helpful but not required.
Time: 10:15-11:15 a.m. and 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Ages: 12-14 (7th and 8th grades - although older students may also attend)

Guided Tours
Meet in Kettering Hall. A guide-led tour of the museum's major galleries: Early Years, World War II, Korea, Southeast Asia, the Cold War and Space. Hear stories about the people and aircraft that have made history!
Time: 10-11:30 a.m. and 1:15-2:45 p.m.
Ages: 9-18 (although the whole family is welcome)

Scavenger Hunts
Available at tables near the entrance to the Hall of Honor (art gallery). Age appropriate informational scavenger hunts are available for youngsters from 1st grade through high school. (Younger children may accompany their siblings but will not receive their own scavenger hunt). These tours are self-directed but require an adult to accompany the youngster. Each student will receive the questionnaire, a pencil (no pens or markers allowed) and cardboard to use as a writing surface. Pencils and cardboards should be returned at the completion of the activity (this allows us to continue offering this activity free of charge). Approximate time to complete the scavenger hunt is two hours. This activity is a great way to fill-in between classes or as a substitute for a scheduled program when needed. Answer keys will be available for viewing at the same location until 4 p.m.

- Seek and Find - Tour the museum with these technology-based questions (4th to 6th grade)
- Ohio's Aviation Heritage - Learn about Ohio's contributions to the history and technology of aviation (4th to 6th grade)
- First Century of Flight - Tour the museum while looking for information about the first hundred years of powered flight (4th to 7th grade)
- Space - Tour the museum's Space Gallery to answer these questions about space history and technology (4th to 7th grade)
- Fighter Pilot - Tour the museum looking for the fastest planes in the USAF -- fighter jets! (4th to 9th grade)
- World War I - Tour the museum's Early Years Gallery to learn about aviation in the first world war (6th to 12th grade)
- World War II - Tour the era of air power to learn more about aviation in the Second World War (6th to 12th grade)
- Museum Encounter - Tour the museum to learn more about aviation history and technology from the beginning to the present (7th to 12th grade)
