Lt. Harold R. Harris Letter

Note: This item is currently in storage.

In September 1917, Lt. Harold R. Harris, who had recently completed Ground School at the University of California Berkeley, was en-route to Italy, to assist in establishing the 8th Aviation Instruction Center for the Allied Expeditionary Force in Foggia. Before leaving France, Harris wrote a detailed letter to his family, asking for them to send him several things, including new officer's insignia and magazines. He even dropped a few Christmas gift hints -- he wished for a Vest Pocket Kodak, a Corona typewriter and "a whole box of Hershey's plain (not nut) milk chocolate."
