Interior views of the Cougar CAT II A1 MRAP on display in the Cold War Gallery of the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. Designed to withstand explosive detonations, this Mine-Resistant Am bush-Protected (MRAP) vehicle was used by United States Air Force explosive ordnance disposal units in Afghanistan and Syria from 2008-2019. Vehicles like this one are also used by Security Forces for base defense. The raised chassis, integrated armor, and V-shaped hull have proven effective in saving lives from underbelly blasts.
